The Tracey MacTaggart Challenge

September 9: The Tracey Mactaggart Handicap Final between Stone Rows and Buena Vista was the first of two exciting polo matches at the Mashomack Polo Club on Sunday September 6. In a hard fought game Buena Vista defeated Stone Rows 13 to 10. Bauti Crotto of Buena Vista was the most valuable player.

At noon the Tracey Mactaggart Final got off to a roaring start with Hawk Hill scoring a goal within the first minutes of the game. The two teams then scored goals back and forth to end the first chukker 3 to 3. By the end of the second chukker Heathcote had scored two goals to edge ahead 5 to 6. In the third chukker Hawk Hill scored four goals to Heathcote’s one bringing the score to 8 to 6 in favor of Hawk Hill. Hawk Hill scored three more goals in the fourth to end that chukker 11to 7. Heathcote never stopped fighting scoring four goals in the fifth chukker to Hawk Hill’s one bringing the score to 12-11 Hawk Hill. In the last chukker Hawk Hill scored another two goals and Heathcote one ending the match 16-12 Hawk Hill.

As the scoring suggests it was a thrilling match, hard fought by both teams. Hawk Hill’s Gringo Combres who was brilliant throughout the match was the most valuable player and his mare, Cumbia, was the best playing pony.  Congratulations to both teams for a most exciting game.
