September 18- The Millbrook Varsity Football team started the season with a loss followed by a win this September. They kicked off the season with a game against Liberty on September 5. The Blazers lost to Liberty 40-34. Head coach Sean Keenan said that they were hoping for a win but the team didn’t play their best. However the boys fought hard losing the game with only 57 second left on the clock.

On Friday, September 11 the Blazers played Sullivan West at home. The game began with a ceremony for 9/11. State Assembly member Kiernan Michael Lalor spoke before the game and a roll call was given for all the past players of Millbrook Football team who have or are currently serving in the military.

“We played very well Friday night everyone on the team played,” said Keenan.

The Blazers won 58-19 to Sullivan West. Senior and team Captain Christian Williams was the top scorer with three touchdowns during the game.

There are 32 players on the team five of whom are seniors. Keenan said although he has a young team they are all experienced. Many of his sophomores and juniors had lots of playing time last season. Keenan said the biggest challenge the team is facing is staying healthy enough to be competitive.

The Varsity Football team next game is Saturday away against Warrensburg at 1:30 p.m.
